The Newtown and Chilwell Cricket Club is proud to announce its inaugural women’s cricket will play in season 2022/2023.
“The club is keen to have a women’s cricket team and this is the first step towards that,” said club president, Tom Levick. “We are also pleased that our first recruit is former Australian netball champion, Susan Meaney.
“Susan brings a rich mix of skills, including a mean bowling arm and a delightful cover drive and along with our other coaches, is keen to pass those on to other new recruits. At Queens Park, we also have an impressive array of facilities, including state of the art turf and hard-wicket practice nets, plus the ability to play on KFC Oval, which is adjudged as the best ground in the Geelong Cricket Association.
“The Newtown and Chilwell Cricket Club is the most successful club in the history of the GCA, with more than 100 senior and junior premierships, and we look forward to the day when we can add a women’s premiership to that list.”
